Mexico City, Mexico (Roma Norte)

(Mid-2018, 1 MONTH)

  • Two things seem to be optional: stoplights and picking up your dogs shit
  • Basically America when it comes to items you want to buy. They have Best Buy, Walmart, Amazon
  • Even though this city is gigantic (20+ million people in metro area), it doesn’t feel crowded at all
  • It’s hard to find chicken in grocery stores and the street vendors do not sell it.
  • Lots of one-way streets, makes it easy to cross as a pedestrian
  • Their street food is mostly sold from semi-permanent structures on the sidewalk (also a ton of more mobile street food vendors)
  • The gas station attendants and grocery baggers don’t make a salary, their income is based on tips

I also visited Cholula, Puebla.

Known For: tequila, Frida, Mariachi, lucha, mole

I choose the items below as they’re generally available everywhere. Thus, easy for comparison. The prices reflect the cheapest option given my standard. In any estination you can find slightly cheaper prices if you wanted to sacrifice convenience (ie going to local market or out-of-town grocery store).
