The E-Myth

Welcome to my The E-Myth book summary!

One-Sentence-Summary: Outdated story with limited value of a consulting relationship between a store owner and business coach.

I’m currently reading The E-Myth by Michael E. Gerber. Current page: 94

Through part one and no value because it tells the story of a brick-and-mortar business owner, which is supposed to be the story of the reader, but my business is digital, and I don’t identify well with the story of an owner who works too much, has a problem delegating, and lacks an entrepreneur mindset.

booboo real-time book rating: ★★☆☆☆ (percentage of books with this rating: 34%)

It was very easy to read or skim because I didn’t like the book’s format. Each chapter starts with a story and then gets into the content which isn’t of much value in 2025.

The author does mention a Position Contract, which is something I already use, but if you do not, here is the definition: “a summary of the results to be achieved by each position in the company, the work the occupant of that position is accountable for, a list of standards by which the results are to be evaluated, and a line for the signature of the person who agrees to fulfill that accountabilities.” (p. 174)

This blog contains both my summary and review of the book The E-Myth.

The best one thing I got from the book is changing my organization chart from departments to positions. This makes sense for a small business like mine.
