Shit My Dad Says

Welcome to my review of Shit My Dad Says by Justin Halpern.

A wildly popular book due to a unique book idea and title. Underwhelming in my opinion. It started off great. It was funny, something that’s difficult to achieve in a book. It satisfied my immediate urge of finding a comedy book.

About one-third of the way through, the stories basically repeat themselves and you realize his Dad is most likely just an asshole.

It’s been on my currently reading list since November 2018. Finished in May 2022. Towards the end I only brought it out seldom when the time was right: something mildly entertaining to read that didn’t require any brainpower.

Highlighted passages:

  • “No, you can’t go getting mad at people because they’re shitty. Life will get mad at them, don’t worry.” Loc238
  • “Sometimes life leaves a hundred-dollar bill on your dresser, and you don’t realize until later it’s because it fucked you.” Loc1682

Did you know I’m an author? I wrote four books on real estate investing, travel, and language learning.
