Watch until the end, and pay attention to how she answers his question, ‘How’s business?’
“Great. I got a lot of opportunities as far as grants and stuff this year. It’s really great.”
Since when do grants equal good business? I’d love to know who that woman is and what she’s spending the grant money on.
It reminds me of that other viral video of a government employee making $250k annually having this to say about how to solve homelessness: not enough housing, not enough housing, not enough housing.
Talk about an NPC. Is that as far as her thoughts go?
Housing is not the reason for homelessness.
The average person probably already knows in both instances, whatever these governmental employees actually do, they’re adding little to no value to society at large.
The Government Accountability Office (GAO) is a nonpartisan agency that works for Congress to investigate and oversee the federal government’s spending.
That’s $2,300,000,000,000.
Here’s the annual budget of the United States of America in the decade before this discovery.
1991: $1,323 billion
1992: $1,381 billion
1993: $1,409 billion
1994: $1,461 billion
1995: $1,515 billion
1996: $1,560 billion
1997: $1,601 billion
1998: $1,652 billion
1999: $1,703 billion
2000: $1,789 billion
That’s $14.4 trillion spent in ten years. Excuse me, that’s a waste ratio of only 16% (2.3T/14.4T), not 51%.
The GAO, a government organization, was created to ensure the government is spending money correctly, not wasting too much, and being held accountable.
Whoops.
I’m not sure there needs to be much comment added to this. It did not cost $600,000,000 to build out this early Internet version of a website portal.
What happened instead was a lot of people, including government officials responsible for distributing the money, got rich and spent the smallest amount on the project, which took much longer than it should have.

That’s $937.5 million per EV charger. If Tesla spent that much on a single charging station, that would be 2,236 Tesla charging stations times $937,500,000 equals a Tesla out-of-business number.
The government, though, not out of business.
Or how about when the government spent $42.5 billion bringing the internet to rural areas while at the same time denying Elon Musk’s SpaceX Starlink bid of only $900 million to do the same thing?
The expected completion is 2030 when SpaceX could have just flicked a switch.
So, 50x the cost and 50x the time. Oops.

I don’t think the general society, me included, understands just how much their government wastes. We’re not in the business of spending government money. Even when I qualified for government money during Covid 1, I did not apply. I’m not interested. I will neither live nor die by the government.
The Constitution got this wrong.
Congress has the constitutional authority to both approve the budget (through its taxation and appropriations powers) and to oversee how those funds are distributed (using its necessary and proper powers). The executive branch is responsible for executing the laws passed by Congress, including distributing funds to contractors.
Those in government should not be responsible for disturbing the funds.
What solution do you have to limit government waste?
this is one reason our country is in the shape it is in. if the government had to answer to the citizens about their spending, like they should, things would be totally different imo. remember the $500 toilet seats? also, if they put that extra money they waste into the deficit, it probably wouldn’t take that long for our country to get out of debt.
