How to Speak Any Language Fluently

Welcome to my How to Speak Any Language Fluently book summary!

One-Sentence-Summary: Surprisingly unhelpful book from Britain’s most multilingual student on learning languages filled mostly with standard advice minus his own addition of the 15-30-15 study review process.

I’ve finished reading How to Speak Any Language Fluently by Alex Rawlings. Pages: 216

booboo real-time book rating: ★★☆☆☆ (percentage of books with this rating: 24%)

“..try to complete at least 6 weeks of lessons before deciding whether to find a new teacher.” (p. 50)

I strongly oppose this recommendation. Maybe six sessions, but six weeks with a bad teacher is too long an impediment to your efficiently learning a language. Remember, learning a language is tough and frustrating; your teacher should not make it worse. The reality is that most teachers are average.

This blog will contain both my summary and review of the book How to Speak Any Language Fluently.

The author did recommend the free online radio app TuneIn. This is a good recommendation becuase think of all the time you’re doing something when you could be listening. Your morning bathroom routine? Driving to work? Cooking? Working out? You could get fluent simply by listening to your target language for 3-4 hours daily. TuneIn will only be for intermediate and advanced students. If you’re a beginner, go to YouTube or specific language learning apps for content.

As I read the book, you will find my in-progress How to Speak Any Language Fluently review and book summary notes below.
