San Pedro, Belize

 I spent more here in 5 days than I did in a month in Guatemala, extremely expensive

• Some places charge is US dollars and some charge in Belize dollars ($1 Belize = $2 USD)
• It’s ok to drink while driving a golf cart and while walking on the street
• 100% of the time I hitch-hiked on the golf carts around the Island and 100% of the time someone stopped to pick me up right away (and 100% of the people who stopped were locals, I think because the tourists are still living in their bubble of thinking strangers are dangerous).
• Nightlife doesn’t start until 11pm or later and goes to after 3am
• 90% golf carts, 10% cars
• Everyone under 30 is a drug dealer, pimp, and/or pothead (but, the friendly kind)
• Wi-Fi is really hit or miss in restaurants/cafe’s (50% of the time it works)
• ATMs charge 1% of withdrawn amount (plus $3.50) — who does that!?! I’m trying to take out money to spend in your city…
• You can have up to 10g of weed as it has been decriminalized
