Sydney, Australia (Bondi Beach)

  • Bondi has a nickname, Bondi Bubble, which suggests people don’t get out of Bondi. This is true because it’s hard to get out in most instances. It’s definitely very secluded for being in a big city due to bad public transit. Although I liked Sydney, I would probably not stay in Bondi again.
  • The bus system is very inefficient. You can only get on in the front, one by one, and you can only get off in the back. This causes the bus to stop for 5 minutes at certain stops while people get on and off. I was yelled at by a driver when I didn’t tag on at the front, opting to tag on in the back to speed up the line.
  • People really seem to obey the laws and are watching others to ensure they are obeying laws. Hard to explain so I’ll give an example: I was waiting in line for the ferry and these two ladies were talking in front of me in the line. Eventually, one of the ladies said bye and left. She came back no less than 5 minutes later to ask her friend in line if she has tagged on because the lady who left did not see her friend in line tag on. Weird.

I also visited Melbourne, Brisbane, and the Gold Coast.
