Da Nang, Vietnam

(Late-2023, 1 MONTH)

  • Second best massage of my life at Omamori Spa (first place still goes to Rio de Janeiro).
  • Most expensive cup of coffee (by far!): $20.83 for a cup at XLII Speciality Coffee
  • Hardest country to walk on sidewalks. The Vietnamese use them as parking lots, living rooms, and restaurants complete with tables and chairs.
  • For being similarly sized to Vientiane, Da Nang feels like a big city.
  • Best coworking: Beans Workspace
  • The worst supermarkets. So bad. Some almost entirely filled with packaged goods. Moon Market is decent.
  • At least a dozen abandoned skyscrapers on the waterfront.
  • World's longest non-stop single-track cable car at over 5,800 meters in length: Hon Thom Cable Car
  • My Khe Beach was named by Forbes Magazine as one of the most attractive beaches on the planet
  • Son Doong Cave, 5 hours from Da Nang, is considered the largest cave in the world. It's so big that it has its own river, jungle, and climate.

I choose the items below as they’re generally available everywhere. Thus, easy for comparison. The prices reflect the cheapest option given my standard. In any estination you can find slightly cheaper prices if you wanted to sacrifice convenience (ie going to local market or out-of-town grocery store).
