Bad Dating Advice

From Mary on page 47, “A man doesn’t have to be anything other than himself.” That’s what a woman tells herself (a man will like me for who I am), but this doesn’t work for men. Well, maybe it does, kinda, but the woman who accepts you for who you are ain’t gonna be the one you really want. As a man, you should work on yourself and make yourself better. Don’t settle with your natural abilities.

Pickup Lines from “Fifty Great Opening Lines” Chapter

A funny pickup line that just might work, “I can’t stand not having you as my girlfriend…I think I’d die if I saw you without your clothes on.” (p. 51)

Compliment a girl on something she gets the least compliments on, but is top of mind. The nose is good. I like your nose. Or sexy ears.

“Didn’t I meet you in Istanbul?” (p. 109) I have this routine I do, goes like this, hey, how are you? (said like I actually know the person). She looks confused. Then, I say wait. do you recognize me? She’ll usually say no. Then I say didn’t we meet in Monaco? (or some other fancy spot)

“If we were in a restaurant, I’d have the waiter send you a drink.” (p. 109) You can do this in any waiting room.

Did you buy that hat (or coat or dress or bracelet) in the States or Italy? The point being that you’ve been to these places, so make them exotic.

“You look exactly like Maxine Silvers. (You can explain that Mazine was your childhood sweetheart and you’re sure that they must be related to each other.)” (p. 110)

“Could I take your picture next to that statue? You will make the scene look friendlier and more fun to remember.” (p. 111)

“Do you work in this building? I’m surprised I didn’t notice you before today.” (p. 111) You could also say this for the gym.

How long do you bake a potato? (hopefully, she doesn’t know) Well then, how long do you cook spaghetti? Or, How many ounces in a quart? Admit you’re learning to cook and ask for help. I think in modern day the unique question works to maybe spur a conversation.

Are you Natasha, my contact? (pull your hat over yoour eres and pretend to be a spy)

Mindset

“You’re a man. And as a man, it’s your right, your privilege to approach a woman anytime you want.” (p. 141)

“Keep this in mind the next time you find yourself shivering with fear at the thought of approaching a strange women – you are a man. If she turns you down, you can try picking up another omwne two seconds later. But she may have to wait two weeks for the nedt man to come along-or even longer.” (p. 141)

“I’m doing her a favor.” (p. 144) Easier said than done, but if you’re truly confident in yourself, this is reality. Letting her join your world would be sweat pleasure for her.

The Compliment Chapter

Let’s finish things off with a laugh. This chapter documents his experience on a TV show promoting his book when the producers wanted him to pick up a girl from the audience undercover. Here are some of the lines he said to this random nineteen-year-old girl:

“I mean, your legs are so long and beautifully muscled. And your hair is so black and lustroius. It just makes a man want to run his fingers through it.” (p. 79)

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone as exotic-looking as you. I mean, you’re incredible. You take my breath away just sitting next to you.” (p. 80)

The insight from this chapter is that she was apparently very beautiful and cold, but he kept pressing on, mentioning different things while she wasn’t giving much in response, until he finally left, and she offered her number. The author’s takeaway is that you can’t compliment a girl enough.
